![]() One notable omission is Skype (free, ), but Meebo is far from alone in this. It also includes support for many obscure services such as My YearBook, Wadja, and ObesityHelp. Supported services include the biggies-AIM, Yahoo! Messenger (free, ), Facebook (support for this is called 'alpha' but I didn't see any problems with it), Windows Live Messenger, MySpace, Google Talk (free, ), ICQ, and Jabber. Signing up for a free Meebo account, however, gives you the advantage of a single log-in to all your chat systems. ![]() Unlike Trillian Astra's ($25 direct, ) web client, you aren't required to create a Meebo account you can just log in to, for example, AIM (free, ), Windows Live Messenger (free, ), or any other client that Meebo supports. One of the beauties of Meebo is that there's pretty much no setup: Simply point your browser toward, enter your IM login, and you're up and chatting. Despite these conveniences, Meebo can't do everything full-blown IM apps can, and doesn't display social network updates. This multi-client instant messenger still lets you quickly message your colleagues regardless of the PC you're using, and the Flash-based web app delivers extras you'd expect only in installed software, like video-audio chat and games. It now offers an installable notifier (Windows only), so its biggest missing piece-desktop notifications-has now been addressed. Meebo is the poster child for browser-based applications that contain virtually zero drawbacks when compared with its installed counterparts.
